ROTARACT D3780 CAREER JAM

L101

What makes Rotaractors from District 3780 special?

Rotaractors were given a chance to wear the brand that stands for global excellence and proud heritage last November 17 in Rotary Center, Roces Ave. through “ROTARACT CAREER JAM: An IBM Daksh Job Fair”. Sixty two Rotaractors participated in the event.

IBM is the world’s largest information technology company and Daksh – Asia’s fastest growing Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), have combined forces to emerge as the single, most prestigious brand in the call center industry. Heralded as the “Contact Center Vendor of the Year” in Asia Pacific by Frost and Sullivan (2006), IBM Daksh leads the way in managing care services and back office processes as third party service provider for companies belonging in the list of Fortune’s Top 500. Thus, IBM Daksh opened its doors for Rotaractors to bigger and better career options like no other company in this business can.
ROTARACT CAREER JAM was not like any ordinary job fair. It was a whole day affair and even free lunch were served. There were two parts of the event. The first part of the program was the career talk wherein Central Recruitment Team’s Deputy Manager Cheya Cunanan introduced to Rotaractors what the BPO industry and IBM Daksh is all about. Then she gave tips on how to write a resume and how to conduct oneself in an interview.

After the career talk, Rogel Sadac, a voice and accent trainer of the company, conducted a very interesting “Voice and Accent Enhancement Workshop.” He emphasized that confidence is very important in every aspiring customer service representative. IBMers Values were also discussed. He even held short activities for everyone to exercise their speaking skills. Enhancement of “Virtual America” (voice and accent) was also executed. It was very interesting because the participants learned new things in just a short period of time.

A pen and paper exam was conducted after the workshop. The IBM Daksh recruiters divided the group into two: non-applicants and applicants. Non-applicants were given the opportunity to have a practice test. Oral assessment and the final interview were conducted after the exam. Out of the twenty applicants, there were four who passed the entire recruitment process. One was for Training Offer while another was for Operations Manager interview the following week. The other two applicants were ensured of a job with IBM Daksh as soon as they graduate from college.

Rotaract Career Jam was a very successful event because IBM Daksh was able to incorporate enhancement of capabilities with motivation and at the same time, it helped the Rotaractors of District 3780 discover, experience and celebrate their individuality especially in the professional aspect.
