APRRC-Pilipinas 2006 Committee Donates US$4,400 for Special Children Housing |
|
It was truly a conference that made a difference. Eight months after the successful Asia-Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference (APRRC)-Pilipinas 2006, its organizing committee, composed of Rotaractors and Rotarians from the 10 Rotary Districts of the Philippines, reconvened at the Chosen Children Village to officially turnover a check worth PHP210,000 (US$4,400). The Chosen Children Village is a caring facility for the physically and mentally challenged children abandoned or relinquished by their parents situated in Cavite Province south of Manila. The money was part of the committee's savings from the APRRC-Pilipinas budget and will be used to pay for one room in a newly built building in the 2.3 hectare village.
"This donation is true to APRRC-Pilipinas' theme of TOGETHER IN MAKING
A DIFFERENCE" says Past President Edison "Magic" Ong, the Rotarian
Chairperson of the committee. "We do hope that the memories of the
APRRC-Pilipinas will forever be remembered thru this worthy project"
added APRRC-Pilipinas Rotaractor Chairman District Rotaract
Representative Rhosenie "Sen" Villanueva. The turnover ceremony was
capped by a special program and dinner for the special children
organized by the group.
The Asia-Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference-Pilipinas was staged in
Tagaytay City in the Philippines from August 31 to September 2, 2006,
and was attended by more than 500 Rotaractors from 11 countries in the
Asia-Pacific Region. The event was hosted by the 10 Rotary Districts of
the Philippines headed by Rotary International District 3810. The next
APRRC will be held this year from the 24th to the 28th of August in
Malacca, Malaysia and will be hosted by the Rotaract Clubs of Rotary
International District 3300.
